'Haunted Cabaret' ...
This collection was inspired by the 1920-1933 prohibition era in which the banning of alcohol sales saw the emergence of speakeasies. This chaotic glamour defined the era with wild weekends, jangled morals and excessive alcohol consumption. The designs were made to look worn in, with beads hanging off dresses, ruffles left to fray and voluminous tulle skirting; to establish this carefree undone glamour that characterised the era. The name haunted cabaret alludes to the almost theatrical glamour and performance at these events even at the expense of their own wellbeing.
